Psicotrópicos Festival returns in July for its second edition in Amsterdam with a bang: Now across two nights, And with a carefully curated selection of Brazilian artists who are shaping the sound of today.
The line-up of Tuesday 29 July will bring:
Hermeto Pascoal
The 90-year-old iconic Brazilian composer and multi-instrumentalist, began his career in the 1950s and is globally renowned for his groundbreaking work with groups like Quarteto Novo and his own ensemble, Grupo. Known as the "Sorcerer of Sounds" for his inventive use of unconventional instruments and experimental techniques, he has composed over 10,000 pieces and earned multiple accolades, including two Latin Grammys.
Gabriele Leite
Is a rising star in classical guitar, featured in Forbes Under 30 (2021) and nominated for the 2024 Prêmio da Música Brasileira as New Artist. She is the cofounder of the Brazilian Classical Guitar Community (BCGC) and has performed at major events such as the Koblenz International Guitar Festival and Classical:NEXT 2024 in Berlin. Her debut solo album Territórios, released in 2023 on the Rocinante label, features works by Sérgio Assad, Edino Krieger, Heitor Villa-Lobos, and William Walton.
