Miyazaki: Spirit of Nature (2024)

Together with Kaboom Animation Festival we bring the best anime to the big screen, with on this evening two recent documentaries about Hayao Miyazaki and a 4K reissue from his 1997 masterpiece Princess Mononoke!

For more than fifty years, Japanese animator and director Hayao Miyazaki has enchanted the world with films such as Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and The Boy and the Heron. Although his films are set in worlds full of fantasy, they almost without exception contain autobiographical elements and reflect society. In "Miyazaki: Spirit of Nature", viewers are introduced to the tireless, obsessive and mysterious filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki through excerpts from his work, whose oeuvre is strongly connected to the relationship between humans and nature.
