Seb Lowe, alongside Kate Couriel (violin) and Joel Goodwin (drums), creates indie pop with a sharp eye on the world. In his songs, the British songwriter tackles themes such as politics, inequality, and sexism, often with dry humor and a keen sense of melody. Their sound moves between indie, folk, and post-punk, with influences from artists including Sinéad O’Connor, Arctic Monkeys, and David Bowie. In recent years, the band has played at festivals such as Y Not Festival and Neighbourhood Weekender and has amassed over ten million likes on TikTok.
People Like You
On their latest single, “People Like You,” the band offers a sharp reflection on masculinity, violence, and collective memory. The lyrics criticize how harmful ideas are passed down, how history repeats itself, and how a naive trust in inevitable moral progress often leads to disappointment.
After the show at Bitterzoet sold out rapidly, Seb Lowe has added a second show at Melkweg on Wednesday, December 9.
