Temples gained worldwide success in 2012 while an impressive wave of neo-psychedelic bands flourished the charts and the festival circuit. On “Shelter Song” and their subsequent debut album “Sun Structures,” the band drew inspiration from the nostalgic melodies and hypnotic, non-Western grooves that were embraced in the 1960s. Subsequent albums featured layered synth work (Volcano, 2015), a reimagining of the 1970s (Hot Motion, 2019), and utopian productions with creative input from Sean Lennon (Exotico, 2023). This summer they'll release their fifth album, where they draw on a very different approach.

Bliss

On their fifth studio album, ‘BLISS,’ set for release on June 26, the quartet drew inspiration from 90s dance music. With their signature psychedelic riffs and loops, euphoria is deeply woven into Temples’ DNA. The band says of that inspiration:

"There’s something special about certain songs from the golden era of Ibiza dance music—it’s euphoric but also tinged with melancholy. The feeling of these songs heavily inspired ‘Vendetta,’ although we didn’t want to go fully down the pastiche route. The production of this song really sums up the record for me, with the use of self-sampling and creating unusual texture combinations while maintaining a strong melodic core. I’ve always loved songs that are instantly recognizable from the first bar, and ‘Vendetta’ doesn’t shy away from pulling you in from the very first beat.

On Tuesday, November 3, Temples returns to the Netherlands for a show in our MAX hall!
