Ecca Vandal goes her own way. You can hear this in her inspirations, which range from Nina Simone to Fugazi, and in her music. She combines punk, jazz, hip hop and electronic sounds into a style that is instantly recognisable as her own.
On stage, she turns this into powerful live shows that make you a fan right away. Her energetic performances have not gone unnoticed. Artists like Limp Bizkit, IDLES and Queens of the Stone Age took her along as a support act. This year, she brings her new album ‘LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO UNFOLLOW’ to Melkweg. About the album, she says:
“The systems. The trends. The illusions of connection. I find empowerment in being loud and noisy especially as a woman in this global moment who grew up in a culture that told me I could not be those things.”
